Good day to all, I have an 07 G35X. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was under the impression that this mode only kept the transmission out of overdrive. I've since learned that this is like a "Grin Mode" and kinda like having a mini-NOS button. I also have a 2003 G35 and have owned 2 other G35's since 2003 and they did not perform like the 07 does in this mode. Here's my question, what exactly happens when entering DS? Is it just shift points? Any change in the engine valve timing? Is there any harm in slapping it over into DS under Wide Open Throttle (for those pesky Civics and Saabs)? Thanks

You should be able to eliminate "pesky Civics and Saabs" without using the DS mode.

Excellent point, but they're like freakin gnats and the sooner you get rid of them the better. The only ones that consistently give my G a butt kickin are the WRX's. Power to Weight... Thanks

No harm at all. The auto trans will shift when it's safe to do so. When you "shift", you're just asking the car to shift, not actually shifting.

As long as you don't put it in park or reverse you're not going to hurt anything.
