I am the very happy owner of a new '07 G35 Journey with the Performance Tire package. Unfortunately here in Minnesota those tires have no stick on the cold tarmac and I need to get winter tires or risk certain death!

On this car the front rims are 18 x 7.5 and the rear 18 x 8.5 whereas the normal rims are 17 x 7.5 front and rear. The owner's manual cautions against rotating tires and states "a pin is on the front brake rotor to prevent the rear wheels from being installed in place of the front wheels."

How do I find aftermarket wheels for use with snow tires that will fit on this car? Will the standard Infiniti 17 x 7.5 work with the pin in place? Do I need to cut off the pin or maybe drill a hole in the wheel?

I guess that I am not the first with this problem. Please help with any advice!

Thanks.

Firstly ...Welcome to NICO!

Did you ask the dealer? What year is your car?

I am not 100%sure on the tire size as I am not a tire expert...so I'm gonna stay away from recommending a size to you.

But...I am positive there will be no drilling required.

Someone here will be able to help you shortly so I will bump this thread up near the top!

Oh..and post some pics of that bad boy!

I have the answer to my own question. But I thought I'd post it here just in case anyone wants to know.

The '07 sedan with performance tires comes with a pin in each rotor to prevent swapping wheels. This pin is easily removed by unscrewing a bolt.

I was easily able to mount 17" rims fitted with snows from an older G sedan on the car.

Life is good in MN! Bring on the snow!!
