Hi Bob, Welcome to the forum.
Just my opinion, but I'd say leave the car alone, enjoy it, and learn its strengths/weaknesses first, then decide later which way you want to go with it. FYI, you can pump a lot of $$$ into these cars and not come close (overall performance) to the other makes factory cars you are trying to beat. A new exhaust or CAI swap might sound fast but the dollars spent to achieve those results can sure be wasteful.
Enjoy the car for what it is, and instead pump your $$$ into a few high-performance driving courses so you can extract the most performance out of your car and without ever adding more weight to it in performance 'mental mods'. There's nothing more gratifying than beating a 'higher-performance' car by driving skill alone!
