2007 G35 S Hood Lift Struts Impossible to Find

I've checked Pep boys, Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O'Reilly, and even Napa, but nobody seems to carry replacement lift supports for the hood of this model. They all seem to carry struts that fit the trunk only. I called the local Infiniti dealer, but they want $91 each for the part. Does anyone know why these are so elusive, and if anyone has had success with a more readily available part?
