I wish I was more up on technology but it's all so hard to keep up with. Anyway, I have an I tunes account and I wanted to transfer the songs from there to a Compact Flash card and then to my 07 G35. I went to Circuit City friday and bought a GE 19 in 1 card reader and a 1G Compact Flash card. I plugged the card reader into my IMac, which I know little about, have failed to figure out how to transfer the Library to the cardPlease help,ThanksJohn

The flash drive should show up on your desktop when you insert it. If not, go into the Finder. You can go to the folder that your music is stored and drag and drop them to the flash drive (open the flash drive folder). The thing you have to look out for since you have an iTunes account is that your music is in MP3 format and not the iTunes format. You can check this, easiest would be going into iTunes and checking the information on each song--the format should say mpeg1, layer 3 and the file extension should be .mp3 . iTunes will convert songs to MP3 (under Advanced).

Drag and drop does not work. I looked at "info" on the songs and I see, Kind: "Protected AAC audio file". I also noticed "m4p" in "where" (which I think is the extension).Bad news?? John

Why not just transfer the music to an IPOD and just plug that into your G37?

Not necessarily bad news, you can convert those into MP3s. Try copy and paste between the folders. If that's not working, then the only thing I can really think of is that there may be a small tab on your drive that protects it from being written to that can be moved (on/off-->write/can't write). If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you, it shouldn't be difficult at all and that's what Apple is known for.

I was hoping to use that big hard drive and not have to worry about leaving my nano in a hot car at work. It maybe what I have to do.

Where might I find that small tab on the "drive"?

Not sure what you mean by copy and paste between folders?

It's weird. I bring up I tunes and select the smart playlist with all my music. Then I go to Finder and select the card reader. I can see both on the screen. When I go click on the playlist to drag it over, the Finder window ends up behind the I tunes window. Arrgggggg........

If there is a tab, they are usually in the area where you insert it into the computer or on the opposite end. The way you're doing it, you could make the iTunes window smaller (bottom right corner of iTunes, click hold and drag) but I'm not 100% that'll work; you can keep trying though. What I was trying to say earlier was go to the folder where the music is actually stored on your computer (you can find that out in the song info in iTunes), select which songs you want, and copy the files (hit the Apple key--has the Apple on it--and C) and then go to the drive folder and paste them into there (Apple and V). This way you don't have to worry about the other window ending up behind another one.

You won't be able to put your music on the hard drive of the car. You can only put actual CD albums, not burned CDs--it won't allow MP3s.

Complicated, I know. Hope that works for you.
