I went to the movies on Friday. And at the movies, ther ewas this 350 Z parked int he lot. After the movies we all went on our merry good way home. However, the 350Z seemed to be looking for a kill. The 350Z seemed like one of those Fairlady or Nismo Zs---had the high rear spoiler and rear clear corners and greyish wheels. So, we went at it. It was a rolling move, and I was surprised how quickly the 350z with HR engine took off---very agile. So, he won that round.
Next round, we go into another rolling move and I gunned it, and he could not make up the distance as i was about 3/4 of a car length ahead of him. so, I won that round.
However, I won't use this small and short experience to suggest that the G-35 Coupe with a VQ35DE engine can go at it with 100% confidence against a 350Z with a VQ35HR engine. The HR engine in the 350Z is a very potent animal. The responsive HR engine and the lighter weight of the z is a very significant factor in its performance.
I am of the beleif that the VQ35HR in the 350Z maybe able to smoke many V-8s out there. It was extremely responsive by any measure you want to use.
If the HR engine in the 350Z is that responsive, i wonder how much more responsive and powerful the 370Z will be? Thye G-35 clearly had a weight disadvantage to the Z I met this night. But I am still impressed with the G-35 Coupe. Really nice car.
