Just bought (well, ordered anyway - should take about a week to get shipped) my 2007 Grand Touring Roadster, and am investigating options for replacing the Bose headunit.

I've had a number of Nissan/Bose systems before and the quality of the amp/speakers are fine for me - I'm not an audiophile, and while I respect the opinion of those who dislike them, I'm not interested in replacing them.

Anyway, I do want to replace the headunit - going to some sort of double din unit with Navigation, etc.

I've heard lots of conflicting information about whether or not the factory amp/crossovers/speakers can be driven directly from an aftermarket headunit.

I also want to keep the steering wheel audio controls - can anyone confirm compatibility with a unit like the PAC SWI-X?

Crutchfield (which I've had good luck with before - if a bit overpriced) lists the PAC SWI-X as compatible, and doesn't list needing an adapter to interface with the factory amp, etc.

Anyone have first-hand knowledge of replacing the headunit in a 2007 with Bose while keeping the factory speakers and amps?

Thanks! I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions once my car arrives... for now, I'm driving a 2005 Touring as a loaner from the dealer...
