2007 Altima's brake light keeps coming on and off - Stays on for 18 seconds...

This issue started happening three days ago but it was not as bad as today. It stayed on for 18 seconds while driving.

I am going to take in for service but I am concerned if this issue is something serious.

Car is only a year old with 15,000 miles on it.

Need advice.

First off, welcome!

Second - you mean the light that comes on when your parking brake is engaged?

If yea, it could be a malfunction in the system, or something up with your rear brakes (where your ebrake engages).

Even if it is something serious, it will be fixed under warranty. No worries pal

I will take it to my local Nissay dealership and have them take a look.

I would assume so - if you don't feel comfortable though, just don't drive it until you get it checked out. It doesn't seem like a big issue though, it's probably a malfunction. Either way, even if your rear brakes are having an issue, the vast majority of your braking power come from your front brakes anyway.
