I wanted to let everyone know about my experience with Nissan yesterday. My battery was dead and the car wouldn't start. The car is a 2007 with 18000 miles. I had to jump start the car and when I took it to Nissan they said the battery was dead. The ORIGINAL battery is only guaranteed for the first 12 months of ownership. I had the car for 13 months. Nissan told me that after 12 months the owner must pay 50% of the cost of the battery ($40) plus tax. I paid the money but did not agree with their 50% rule. No car should need a new battery after 13 months. They said that the original battery that comes with the car has a 12 month warranty but the replacement batteries come with a 24 month warranty, how backwards is that? I called and spoke to Ericka who said she was a supervisor. She also refused to issue me a refund. I am going to dispute the charge on my visa. I feel that a 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty should include a battery. I also took the car to Nissan today because on 2 of the 4 doors the strike plate has rust, again on a 2007??? I wonder if I'll have to pay for that as well. I've had other cars in the past ie. Mitsubishi and when they say 3 yr 36k mile warranty they mean it. I guess Nissan would rather lose a customer in the future and risk negative posts like mine over the internet then to keep a customer happy and refund the $40.00 to the customer.
