Hi all - I’ve been doing a lot of research the last couple of days and am very confused.

I’m looking at buying a 2007-2010 and need Bluetooth audio and phone to work pretty close to flawlessly. Plugging in just isn’t a viable option.

I know that the following all contribute to the difficulties in getting a definitive answer, but I’m trying: 10 year old car with new phones, multiple audio system options, satellite radio, NAV etc.

Anyways, I’m not sure which options I’ll end up with so I’m trying to figure out which configurations I will be able to definitely get a Bluetooth option working with steering wheel button functionality. I’m more worried about the audio and phone working and connecting easily (and automatically) than the buttons but I can dream, right?

So I’ve seen the PA15, the BT45, Scosche, etc. but it seems like every other thread is one person saying it works great and the next is the opposite. Any help would be appreciated. I plan on likely buying the equipment and maybe trying to test before I actually buy (if I end up with a 30 pin to BT solution that goes in the center console) but I just don’t want to end up with a car I love to look at but hate to drive because of BT and unfortunately the 2011 is just a bit too pricy.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

Matt

Your best bet is the BT45...but pairing a phone with updated BT firmware with old tech, regardless of brand, will lead to less than stellar results sometimes. You need to accept that going in.

So what type of results can I expect based on your experience with it ?

From what I’ve experienced, the BT45 is a good product IF you use a separate devices to play your music and act as a phone. My iPhone X would say “connected” to both the car’s phone Bluetooth and the BT45 at the same time, which I thought was impossible. This would cause some interference in my Bluetooth signal resulting in my music “skipping.” After I switched to having my new phone connected to the car Bluetooth for phone purposes and my old phone connected to the BT45, I have had zero issues. I have the tech package in my car which has the Bose system with the amp underneath the passenger side of the package dash. The BT45 installation was easy. It just plugs in, then you mount it with Velcro or double-sided tape and run the ground wire to a good grounding spot. Simple.

In my old 2007 M45 with the base audio system, I used the Audiovox Mediabridge, which has a USB port that was the input and the charging port. That unit plugged in behind the audio control unit in the dash. I liked it for using a cable, but I never could get the Bluetooth to work.

So if I don’t have two phones I’m screwed? Thanks for explaining.

What kind of phone do you have? Don't think I saw that mentioned.

You can use any music storing device like an iPod or buy an old 5s for cheap and use that.

If you have an iPhone I'd just get a USA Spec and call it a day. Why the desire to not plug in? Agree with using the phone like an iPod. USA Spec makes it easy.

See, the issue with that is I hear people get bad connections, I'll buy it in a heartbeat if it works out great

Yeah I can’t tell if Ilya is implying that it works well or not. That’s why I posted, inconsistent comments everywhere.
