New to this forum as of today. I stopped by here hoping that I might find some help or suggestions for my problem. I have a 2006 Xterra X 4x4 w/ the 4.0L. About 103,000 miles or so. I will give you the complete history, so please bear with me. The truck has ran fine since I bought it in 07 and up till about two weeks ago it never gave me any problems or ran rough even once. I started it up and it was running really rough, like only on 4 to 5 cylinders, the only way I could get it to clear up was to shut it off and restart it. That time it started and ran fine and for about another week or so it continued running fine. Then it happened again but cleared up after restarting. Only a couple of days later I was coming to a stop and it just stalled on me, but once again it started right back up with no problems. A few days went by with no trouble and it stalled on me again, this time when I went to start it it ran really rough so I had to restart it. Now just two mornings ago I had just started it up and about 10 seconds later it just stalled. Now it wont start at all. The engine cranks just fine, battery and starter are strong. I know the fuel pump is fine as I hear it kick in when the key is turned and I know gas is getting to the engine as I can smell it. I'm pretty certain that its just not firing at all. This is where I get lost as Im not particularly familiar with this engine, especially the ignition system. Does this engine have an ignition module? I know that there isnt a distributor and cap so what does the "distributing" and telling which plug and coil spark? Where do I begin troubleshooting why there isnt a spark being created and so on? Is the ECM the only possibility here as I certainly hope its not. Many thanks for any help you guys might have for me.
