Post

Hi, bought my silver 2006 Sentra Special Edition 1.8 in October 06 and have loved it ever since. Got it mainly for gas milage as I drive 65miles round trip to work each day. Decided on the SE cause of the SE-R trim and the Fosgate sound system along with the other features.

Now looking to pass it to my son and of course he wants to "trick it out" a bit but wants to stay stock on the exterior.

Couple of things.

1) trying to find out what if any real upgrades can be made to the 1.8 motor.

2) son had a little fender bender with it and we need to get a new front bumper. Wondering if the front bumper for a 2003 SE-R spec-v
is interchangable with the '06 ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

And yes I will be registering my car on the Reliability Survey. :bigthumb:

So wait, did you get the SER or not? If I'm not mistaken, the SER comes with the 2.5l engine in 2006.

2. Seeing as how its the same generation/body style, I'm going to say the 03 SER spec-v bumper SHOULD fit, possibly with a little massaging, but it shouldn't be bad.

The 03 bumper will fit, you need a different hood and headlights though. I'll get the parts list and post back in a minute.

Hood
Headlights
Foglights
Front Bumper
Upper/Lower Grilles
Retainer Bar 62240-5m100
Retainer Bar Left Bracket
Retainer Bar Right Bracket
Radiator/Grille Left bracket
Radiator/Grille Right bracket

Going to have to wire in the fog lights too, the 02-03 are different bulb styles than 04-06. IMO the conversion is well worth it...I'm still considering doing it myself. You can find the hoods on vehicle part outs, seen some go for really cheap when people go with carbon fiber.

Thanks man. I figured with some tinkering it would work out. The '06 front end is nice but the '02-'03 is a definite upgrade. My son has already been looking into the carbon fiber hood and has found a set of "03 rims.

I know my son will eventually go for an engine swap to upgrade to a spec-v motor but first things first.

BTW - are there any performance upgrades for this 1.8 motor ?

No problem man.

Here's some 1.8 stuff, there's plenty out there, but here's a few.

http://www.statracing.com/apps/nissan-t ... o-kits.asp lol

http://www.racinglab.com/injen-cai-inta ... a-012.html Here's an intake, there's a few others available though.

http://www.amazon.com/OBX-Header-02-05- ... B001UK2KRK Header - tons of these out there, just watch the cheaper ones, sometimes they have crappy welds.

The exhaust you're going to have to look around for, I know HKS used to make a nice one for the 1.8.

Also, any of the suspension stuff you see for a Spec V, fits your car. I don't know if your model came with a front strut bar, but if you look around the Spec forums, you can usually find them on there for as little as 15 bucks when people do an upgrade :)

Also, they have motor mount inserts that will fit, they're made for the 2.0 but will fit perfect in the 1.8 mounts.

Make sure to tell your son that the 3.5 fits as well :)

http://www.google.com/search?q=vq+sentr ... 08&bih=815 It's just a link to the google image page, ton of them. There's a guy here locally that has a VQ Turbo one. It's dead even with my brothers 19psi Cobra lol.

Showed my son. He went nuts. May have to check with my boy to see if any wrecked Maximas and/or Altimas may be around the salvage yards.

:) Research whichever swap you go with, unless there's work done to the VQ, the boosted QR usually will outrun it.

I can find a parts list for the VQ swap if you want it.
