Hello everyone! I just traded in my Audi TT for a Pathfinder. I'm loving the car, but the 6-Disc Changer is jammed. It makes a noise like it's trying to eject, but it can't. The dealership I bought the car from is supposed to be ordering me a new one.

I was wondering though if there's a way to put a single din head unit in it's place. I have a Pioneer DEH-80PRS that I took out of the Audi. It's an amazing unit and I would love to have it in the Pathfinder. I'm thinking that whenever I press the "CD" button on my factory unit, it could just switch over to the Pioneer as the input device. Then I don't have to mess with the NAV and Climate control.

If I missed a thread like this, I'm sorry. I've been googling a bunch and have had no luck.

Not saying this for sure, but:

I recently was dealing with a faulty 6 CD changer Bose head unit in a 2002 Infiniti QX4 - in researching the fix I recall several posts where people ran into issues with Bose equipped vehicles and aftermarket head units - apparently the Bose speakers run at a different resistance rating (than standard) and the Bose head unit put out more power amplification - so when people simply swapped out the head unit, they found the Bose speaker to output at much less volume. People were complaining it required the replacement of all speakers/wiring/head unit to move away from the Bose system.

Just something I noticed when researching, I have no direct experience, and decided to go with a refurbished Bose head unit on my car.

i highly doubt you will be able to have the stock radio switch to another radio and use the cd player like that when you press the cd button on your stock radio; however, in a 2006 pathfinder correct me if im wrong but i don't think the climate controls tie into the radio unit, which means you can replace the radio with any double din radio and you will be fine. Pioneer has some very nice double din radios, all you'll need is the new double din radio, dash kit, and harness adapters.

your radio will look something like this:

Last week I took everything apart to try and fix the CD changer. I saw how easy it would be to put in a double din. But I don't want to lose the navigation and I already own the DEH-80PRS which is a huge part of it. It's an audiophile grade head unit and I have no extra money to be buying a different one.

I did notice though, that there is an empty connection behind the stock stereo for the rear entertainment, which I don't have. I read that people were able to install aftermarket rear entertainment systems. So I don't think it would be impossible to the same with my head unit. The Rear A/V button would switch the input to it.

This appears to be the adapter for it, with minor trimming required.

If I find myself unmotived, I'll probably just do the popular mod of splicing in an AUX port into that same input. Makes me miss my Forester, that car was an aftermarket audio sandbox.
