Hello all, This will be my maiden posting.
2 weeks ago I purchased a new 2006 Nissan Xterra........X trim. I have the power package installed - which would have been difficult to do myself. However, I am going to self install most of the other not - standard options ( wheels, running boards, and hopefully XM radio.
I have a line on a rockford fosgate radio out of a 2005 Xterra. Model # 28185 EA400. I believe this will fit, however, I want to be 100% certain. Also, it looks the same as the one in the 2006 xterra, but is it also sat radio ready? I checked crutchfield's website and they recommend a device to modulate the signal over an unused fm channel and display the songs, station etc. on the RDS frequency. Is this how it works from the factory? I was under the impression that you can change XM stations directly with the head unit. Also, how about wiring? Would this be the same? I've read that I'll need an amp to drive my speakers. true or false?
It seems like finding information is hard to do, maybe what I want can't be done with the factory unit. However, I like the factory look and would like to maintain that - with a hidden xm receiver.
Thanks in advance!
