Wanting to find out if this is normal for the 06 Pathfinder from other owners perspective and/or a mechanical perspective.

When cranking (cold start) engine revs to around 2000 rpms then drops to around 1700 rpms then 30-40 seconds later drops on down to what I think would be normal.

Does this sound right to some of you with the same vehicle ? Or could there be a possible problem here?

thanks in advancec

So when it starts up it instantly goes to 2000 and then drops down to 1700 within a few seconds?

It is normal for the car to idle higher during however I dont think its normal for it to idle THAT high.. I would think that it would jump up to like 1500 and then setlle down to like 1200 or so...

on my 01, 2000 is not overreving on startup. it stays there for a while and eventually slows to about 1300 or so. the 2000 just gets the oil pressure up.

I'd have to say that's normal. I get that every morning when I go to work and idles bout 7 or 800 when hot.

I have a 2005 and it revs to about 1700-1800 then starts going down soon after....so i guess it is normal.
