2006 Murano - Seat Bracket

I have experienced the "seat lean" issue that the 03-06 Muranos have where the back-left seat bracket on the driver's seat breaks. The result is an unstable, annoying, and potentially seriously unsafe situation. Nissan has not issued a recall and people posting online elsewhere claim a very low rate of success with Nissan financial assistance helping to cover part of the bill (near $1000 by most estimates).

My Murano has < 30k miles and is in perfect condition otherwise. This is unacceptable in my opinion and yet I'm getting the run around by Nissan. Has anyone had any successful, low cost solution? I really thought Nissan and this Murano were great until I had this design defect show up. This is rediculous.
