Hello All,My wife's friend has an '06 Murano with what appears to be some type of electrical problem. While driving, she loses all electrical power and must pull over. Once pulled over, she's restarts and everything is fine.

This usually occurs once every 8-10K miles, regardless of conditions (speed, weather, etc.). The last time she lost power on four separate occasions.

Everytime this has occurred, she's brought it to her dealer, who can't replicate the problem.

I'm thinking it may be a problem related to the IPDM. Has anyone else had this type of problem (regardless of model) and how was it corrected?

Thanks in advance,Mike

here's a shot in the dark, when my crank position sensor was going out I had about the same problem but mine has a hard time starting along with stalling in the middle of a drive. But mine is a 350z so it might not be it at all.

Water intrusion and subsequent corrosion damage can cause all kinds of faults in IPDM circuits. Since ALL power is cut at once I would not suspect one specific engine sensor, however a failing Hall effect sensor may cause a hard/no start condition.

A quick check would be check the area around the battery and underhood fuses and fuseable link connectors. Since this doesn't happen all the time I am wondering if it only happens once the water gets in there and reaches a certain point. That too is only a shot in the dark. The first step in any good diagnosis is check all the connections. If everything looks clean and shows no signs of green fuzz click THIS link and read the LAN subsection and figure out what CAN type your wifes friend has depending on equipped options.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the leads and the link. Hopefully, it'll be something as simple as a bit of water intrusion, although I hope the dealer would've ruled that out.

All- Thanks for the replies.

Yeah we would like to assume that they covered the basics, but that is the best place to start. Without knowledge of exactly what is happening the basics are pretty much the only things we can rule out right now. I need to go read the Murano manual again to get you a few more ideas if all these connections are in good order.

Thanks. Hopefully this weekend I can get her to stop by and take a look at what's going on under the hood.
