Is it true that Nissan extended the CVT warranty to 120K miles or 7 years (whichever comes first)?

Thanks!

No, it's extended to 10 years, or 200,000 km. Your dealer can provide confirmation and documentation of this for you, and you also should receive a letter in the mail. Great news!

What!?!? Are you serious!?!? I just called Nissan to verify this, and they know nothing of it.

Hello, it's Philip - NICO Rogue Forum Moderator

Yes, it is true. Nissan USA has set up a website with all the information regarding the CVT Extended Warranty:

http://www.nissanassist.com/index.php?menu=1

Owners who have paid to have their CVT's repaired may also be eligible for reimbursement if it occurred under the new warranty terms: 10yr/120k. Click the above link for more information.

Christmas comes early!!

I think Nissan finally saw the writing on the wall. Either they had to do something or their reputation was going to take a big hit.

I would consider this a drastic measure (major damage control) and all the Murano owners who voiced their displeasure over the CVT and its inherent problems should be applauded.

After all this time, Nissan finally did the right thing.

Wow...now, this just makes me weepy....I already paid for a 100,000 mile warranty on the 2009 Murano I own, but does not negate the impact something like this has on a customer like me.

Bravo, Nissan, Bravo. Way to stand behind your product.

Have there been a lot of problems with the CVT transmission?

Depends on which model you're talking about, the early 2003 designs are completely different than the current models, so yeah early 2003 Murano owners for example have had a lot of problems.

But the point is, that this doesn't indicate a problem with the CVT, but rather the complete opposite - this proves Nissan is very confident in the reliability of their product and are willing to stand behind the product and put consumers/owerns mind at ease that long term reliability will be very good, probably better than conventional transmission's.

Personally I am a huge fan of the CVT, I really love it in my 3.5 Altima, great performance!
