2006 Maxima Turbine Speed Sensor

The transmission shifts hard and has a whining sound. Twice it has hung in 5th gear until engine is shut off for a while. Check engine light is now on.
Code reads Engine turbine speed sensor. Does anyone know where this sensor is located?

What is the level and color of the ATF. Have you done a flush of your transmission fluid? Please refer to the attached link, starting on page AT-108 re Turbine Speed Sensor.

The fluid level and color are good. The fluid does not appear to be burnt at all. We purchased this car for our daughter about three months ago. I really don't know it's history but until this problem it's ran great.
