All,

My girlfriend cracked the support piece hitting the mirror against something. The housing is fine. She ordered a whole new replacement from Autozone special order. What she received isn't full featured- her's is heated, dimming, and motorized. The piece from AZ is just motorized. AZ says no return on the part.

I'm wondering if there is a way to just use the support piece from the new part, and re-use her housing (which elminates the need for painting as well).

Problem is, I'm not sure how I would pull the wires from her old housing through the new support piece. There is a big connector on the end of the wire running to the car, and I'm just not sure how to get into the mirror housing to see what's in there. I'm assuming the wires split off to various places within the housing, all terminating in a connector, and still not allowing me to pull it through the hole in the support bracket. Clipping wires and re-connecting does not seem reasonable as there are at least 12 wires running into the mirror.

Hopefully this makes sense to someone who has maybe been there before.

Question 2- The tweeter cover doesn't want to snug-up into its nook like it was when I initially removed it. Is there a trick to getting that back on there firm? Did I lose something?

Thanks,

Carnutzzz

Depending on the design on the connector, you should be able to remove the pins from it. Usually you can insert a straightened paperclip or sewing needle somehow to release the pin's retainer...

Good idea. Not sure why I didn't think of that.

I'll have to look closely at the connector to determine how the pins lock.

Can anyone answer my second question?

Thanks!
