2006 M45s sunroof stuck

My sunroof is stuck in a tilt position after trying to open. I removed the motor from the roof and it will run when switch is turned on. When positioned back on the roof and cable guides, it will not move. My question is, could it still be the motor or the cable guides being stuck? Is there a trick to push the sunroof back into a closed position?

Okay, I tried powering the sunroof again using the switch to no avail. Motor was really hot upon removal. Once removed, I pushed up on the sunroof and it moved back into the closed position. Looks like the motor definitely needs replacing. I reinstalled the motor to the cable guides so the sunroof would stay in position until I replace the motor.
