I purchased a 2006 M45 Sport in late October of last year. Living in New England, I haven't really had to utilize the A/C much until the past couple of weeks. I noticed that the A/C really isn't very cold and on the few 80+ degree days, the interior is WAY too warm - this is running the car with all the windows closed, the A/C set at 60, with max fan, and re-circulate set on.

I brought the car into the dealership last week and had the A/C system flushed and recharged. The tech said that the system was about half empty when he flushed it. However, even with the system completely recharged this weekend the heat was too much.

Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas if a system leak could cause the A/C to stop kicking out truly cold air?

check for obstructions and blocks in front of the condensor and the evaporator. Leaves and junk. Then stick a thermometer in the vent and see how cold It blows out. It should be 37-42*F.

That is definitely not right. Even in 100 degree days in Texas, the A/C is strong. It will cool the car down within 5 min. even after sitting in the sun for hours.

So, you need to have the dealer look at the A/C system and have them fix it before your warranty runs out. The A/C of M45 is the strongest I have ever had in any car.

This could help you, however I have not turned a wrench in ten plus years and that was on cars already ten years old. I had a honda CRX with A/C issue and all the compressor pressures where normal with no evident leaks but the vent temp was warm. It turned out to be a stuck heater control valve. How the temp controller works is it runs coolant threw the heater/evaporator core under the dash to adjust the temperature demanded, on my CRX the valve that adjusts the coolant flow was stuck wide open reguardless of the lever position, so I had hot coolant and cold evaportator countering each other so the result was warm air. I live in Florida so I did not need the heater so I disconnected the heater and looped the hose back to the engine and wham cold A/C. Check to see if the heater core valve is not stuck open. Hope this can help as I dont know if new cars use a different system.

Luckily, when I brought the car in to have the system recharged they put in a die in case the system had a leak. So, I brought the car back to the dealer and they put the light on it. Turns out there is a leak right by the condenser.

The dealership is taking care of the repart at no charge (huge plus), but I really hope this turns out to be the only issue.

Thanks to all for the replies!
