I purchased a 2006 M45 Sport in late October of last year. Living in New England, I haven't really had to utilize the A/C much until the past couple of weeks. I noticed the that A/C really just isn't very cold and on the few 80+ degree days the interior is WAY too warm - this is running the car with all the windows closed, the A/C set at 60, with max fan, and re-circulate set on.

I brought the car into the dealership last week and had the A/C system flushed and recharged. The tech said that the system was about half empty when he flushed it. However, even with the system completely recharged this weekend the heat was too much.

Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas if a system leak could cause the A/C to stop kicking out truly cold air?

Didn't the tech check for leaks? A system doesn't get "half empty" on its own. I would take it back to the dealer and have the tech re-check it and if he finds a leak to recharge it at no cost to you.

The A/C in these cars is usually very very good. I live in Atlanta and the car is parked in the sun in a parking lot during the day. It takes less than 5 min to cool the car down when I go to leave work at the end of the day when its been 90 degrees out.

And your sure the "A/C" button is on? Not just blowing the fan?

Must find where leak is and repair/replace defective components, then recharge to spec and start from there---that should cure the problem, if not, further testing of individual components are in order

Mine doesnt behave like this at all. Ive been using it constantly for the past week, in high 80 degree weather, and its been working great. In fact, when I have the temp sent below 74, it actually gets too cold for me in the car.

The A/C on my 2009 has been a very pleasant surprise. Buying a new car you never know just how good the A/C is until you try it in hot weather and so far my M35 has been impressive. It has been an unusually cool summer so far with our highest temp only about 108º F but even at 108º the A/C had no issues getting and keeping the car cool. I park in the sun all day and the car cools quickly and will get icy cold if I have it cranked up my 20 minute drive home.

i agree man; a/c on my M has been fairly good as well. no issues trying to get cold. arbitrage looks like you need to go back to the dealer and tell them whats up.
