There is no bleeder for the radiator in itself, but there is one for the cooling system. It is at the back of the intake, one of those coolant hoses leading to the cabin. It looks like the plug at the bottom of the radiator, but this one is the highest point of the cooling system.
Look at the FSM, cooling section (CO), and it is on page 41.

I have to read the manual to verify this, but yes the temperature sensor could throw a code if it is not in contact with a liquid.

I am not certain how the 06 m45 notifies you of an overheat condition, but my 03 had the gauge all the way to max then it also notifies you on the screen. Has your car overheated to that level or how are you noticing this?

Now that you've noticed the overheating with coolant consumption, it makes it easier to diagnose. Any leaks onto the ground/around hose clamps/onto the engine lower cover? Is the coolant reservoir either way below min or above max? White, sweet smelling smoke from the tailpipe?

My ac wasn't blowing cold so I glanced at the temp gauge on the dash and it was on H 06's don't tell you on the nav screen or at least mine didn't then I took of the thermostat took it to autozone they said it was bad then I installed the new one out coolant in the radiator but forgot to release the air from the cooling system no leaks from what I saw but there was coolant on the bottom of the engine it gave me code p1217 it did this out of the blue I just happen to check the codes the day prior to it running hot and no codes

So when you removed the thermostat, your coolant level was fine... you just forgot to properly top it off when you put the new one in?

Was I supposed to put coolant in where the thermostat
was? It was sticking out sideways so I didn't think I should put any in there also when I removed the t stat no coolant at all came out is this my problem?

I know the fsm mentions adding coolant to the thermostat and it's not clear, but that means using the filler neck with the pressure cap.

I think it is a problem that coolant did not drain out of the thermostat body when you removed it. That means you were low on coolant from the filler neck at least up to the thermostat level. Coolant has been leaking out or leaking in.

Could you respond as to what the reservoir level is?

Could be cheaper to do it by yourself, I don't see brand new parts costing more than $300.
Well, good luck on your journey mate. I hope it didn't overheat badly enough to cause any head/head gasket issues.
