Ok, I did a search on the site to research this and had trouble finding anything. Yeah, im a noob, sue me.

Very seriously looking at the 03 to 05 M45 as my next car, great value. But I consider a manual to be a huge part of the driving experience. So... I know enough to know that the 03 and 06 generation M45s share powerplants (more or less). I am wondering if it is possible to drop the manual transmission of an 06 into the previous gen m45.

Thanks.

Welcome to NICO!

There have been attempts to drop in a manual transmission into the first-gen Q45 (the 1990-1996 model years). A rare few sorta worked, as I think I recall.

But, no one, to the best of my knowledge, has tried it with the latest models of any Infiniti M45 (2003 or later) or Q45 (2000 or later) since it has the same engine.

I do not know the answer either since I am not sure what would be needed! (Beyond a heck of a lot of work, that is! ) But, I will ask ...

I'm reasonably certain that it could be done, but I don't know of anyone who has actually done it. Good luck, and welcome to NICO!!!

There was never a MT offered in an M35/45 regardless of year, and no one has ever swapped a MT into a G50 that I know of. If you know of someone that has, Z, please let me know! The guy with the RB25 in the Q doesnt count since its a different motor...

Its going to be about teh the opposite of bolt in. Your going to make an adapter to adapt the trans to the motor and then fabricate everythign else. Its very possible but its not going to be an easy task.

I hate to say this but if you want an MT just get a BMW 540 6 speed!

The auto in the 03-04 M45 is still a whole lot of FUN!!!!

It's a great car and an awesome value. + it is a car that you don't see all the time and looks nothing like any other car out there.

Ah, yes, I did not properly read the original question - jumped to the conclusion about asking about manual transmissions for a 2003 M45 in general. Correct, there is no manual in the 2006+ M models! Thanks, Wes!

Ah! I am obviously wrong then. For some reason, I had though that a G50 had had a manual installed at some point ... I guess there have been so many questions about this in the past, that I must have assumed that some had worked. Oh, well.

Sigh ... I wish that Infiniti would do the same. I'd certainly be interested in a manual tranmission M!
