Guys

Which model year of infiniti did they upgrade the Bluetooth to include both audio and streaming? the reason i am asking is because my 06 m35 has the older version Bluetooth audio only but no music streaming unless using the aux.

Also, have anyone tried retrofitting a newer infiniti infotainment system on an older model ? say 2009 m35 on a 2006 m35 ?

Thanks

Although the head units appear identical (minus small differences in the button finish) the 2009 uses a different HD based NAV while the 2006 uses a DVD-based NAV. That alone tells me that those two head units will not be plug-n-play due to different wiring harnesses. It is still possible to add a gizmo that allows the older Ms to stream music. Perhaps one of the members who has done that will chime in with the name and install details. You can also search the FAQ section to see if there are DIYs for adding this feature.

I'll add a comment regarding bluetooth audio streaming. That came in 2011 with the M37 and M56.

I honestly don't think I'd gain enough value from the trouble of installing the 08+ head unit, but there are aftermarket options. Search "bluetooth audio" or "streaming", I k ow a thread came up recently with details... or just keep scrolling back over 3 pages.

My 07 didn't even come with an aux. So I had to install a bluetooth accessory in order to stream music. I had to order the Parrot MKi9200 car kit from Crutchfield for about $240. there might be other alternatives and maybe cheaper but this worked for me. One thing I should add is that for the Parrot to work was that I had to order an additional wire harness in order for the connections to work between the stock HU and Parrot car kit. The wire harness was from here http://www.quickconnectproducts.com/Find/find.php . And I think that harness was around $150 which is steep but I didn't want to hard wire anything so I went with it.

Hope this helps with options. Good Luck
