GOod morning all, I am new to the forum and have a strange problem with my car... When I bought it it had a wheel noise while driving that sounded almost like a wheel bearing. I thought it was coming from the left so I went to the dealership bought one and installed. I still have the noise. It starts almost as soon as the car moves doesn't change with the shifting of the transmission but does change pitch on acceleration and turns just like a wheel bearing but not unless its the right side I guess. The noise has not gotten worse and I have driven it for a year this way. Looking for any help. Thanks so much!

First, welcome to NICO. Second, I am NOT an automobile mechanic - just a member here.
Sometimes noises can be a bit tricky to pin down. Sound reflects off the ground and other surfaces and can seem to be coming from one area when in fact it is coming from another. I'm sure you've already considered that ... but have you had someone else drive whilst you sit on the passenger side - leaving all windows closed but yours so you can determine if the sound seems louder on that side Vs the volume you heard from the driver's side?
Another suggestion is to have the dealer take a look, but no doubt there will be a charge for that service so to avoid the charge, have the Infiniti dealer do the next oil change - that comes with a free inspection of things like steering linkage, brakes, tire pressure, fluids, belts, suspension, etc. At least then you will know that the noise is NOT caused by any of these things, narrowing the possible source of the noise.
You can also go to one of the auto parts shops and have them run a check for error codes - most do this free of charge.
Write down any codes that show and research the codes to determine if they shed any light on a cause for the noise.
Hope this helps.

Sorry to thread hijack but I have the same issue. When I drive I get a sound like vvvv-vvvv-vvvv coming from the front wheels... almost like somethings rubbing. It goes faster the faster my wheels go. My steering wheel doesn't really shake out anything. Someone said it could just be old tires. Could it be a wheel bearing or rotors or what??

Park on a flat even surface and jack each wheel up one by one. Put blocks under two wheels so it doesnt roll, then put the car into the on position so you can shift to N. Spin the wheels listening and feeling for a grinding rough feeling. Thats the bad bearing aflicted wheel.

Like svard75 said, test the bearings. I had a bearing noise while my car was under warranty and the dealership said it was nothing. Several years and tens of thousands of miles later, the noise was still there, and the warranty was long gone. An independent mechanic told me it was the front left bearing from driving it. I bought a front left hub bearing from infinitipartsusa. The mechanic went to install it and noticed the front left hub spun free and made no noise, so he checked the front right one. It was the front right one all along. Luckily, even though they are sold as different part numbers, the front left hub bearing installed in the front right hub bearing position with no problem. The thing was so bad that without a wheel for leverage, it could only be turned by hand, and wouldn't spin at all.

Bearing noise will travel across the front of the car from the bad side, through the axle, differential, and other axle and be heard on the wrong side. The same with axle noises like loose CV joints, and an axle can break and it will even feel like the other axle since everything is connected. Spinning the wheels off the ground is the very best way to diagnose such issues.

Yeah, I know it's an aged thread, but the info is still useful.

Since it is an X... check front axles as well... jack up car - check angle, feel the boots for grease, check for leaks...

Also, while parked turn wheel to most extreme right or left, put car in drive, drive a slow circle - check for popping - physical noise and the car actually jerking.

Veery is right - CV boots are always an issue with random noises on the X

My front left bearing was replaced on my '06 M35x. Whenever I turned left, I heard a rhythmic wah-wah sound. The repair was around $400

Brian has described the sound I get from my M35x perfectly, I thought it might be something in the AWD system, I'm not a mechanic either....
If you find out what the issue is please let me know.

Thanks for the suggestion of having the dealer do the next oil change to troubleshoot other issues for free, great idea!

It's most likely the bearing. Have them look at that.
