well..its been almost 5 years with my M, she has given me 103,000 wonderful miles(and counting because im not ready to let her go just yet lol) this has been by far the most reliable vehicle i have ever owned, and i will miss it terribly. however i feel its time to move on and sell it while it is still 100% mechanically sound. it is black with wheat interior, the advanced tech package, with the dvd player in the arm rest, and speakers near the headrest. it also has Adaptive cruise control and lane departure. the exterior has some dings and scratches(it is a BLACK car!) there is a dent on the hood from a small tree branch that fell during a storm, nothing major at all. the interior is not perfect but acceptable. there is a 5 inch tear in the rear seat and a small burn hole on the armrest(im still debating whether to get these fixed before i sell it, suggestions?) obviously i will be getting the car fully detailed before i take any photos. repairs, upgrades and basic maintenance are as follows, and all have been performed within the last 45-50,000 miles.

G35 z-tube intake
Radiator and coolant replaced
Belts and pulleys replaced
PCV valve replaced
Engine oil-cooler O-ring seal replaced
passenger side window motor replaced
camshaft position sensor replaced
brakemotive drilled and slotted rotors and pads
nankang tires
Full stainless steel custom exhaust(M2 Y-pipe, Fujitsubo mid pipe and mufflers)
tinted windows
Nav-hack(DVD-in-motion)
spark plugs replaced at 102000 miles
wheel alignment performed at 97000 miles
transfer case, power steering, front and rear differential, and transmission fluids always changed every 30000 miles last being performed at 99000 miles
oil has personally been changed by me every 3500 miles with full synthetic.

this car runs flawlessly. the exhaust growls nicely.. the only known issue are its consuming oil around, about 1.5 quarts every 3500 miles. i add some in between to push a few more miles..now to the most important question...how much am i asking. id like to get at least 10-11k if im selling this car short pleast tell me?! can i get as much as 15k for it?

thanks guys

I paid 11,500 for my M35X with 99K miles. However my car is in mint condition inside out albeit needing detail. Has the advanced technology package and sensory package. Dealer maintained. I think if your car is in good shape you should get 12K with your upgrades. Mine doesn't consume any oil.

i got the recall letter in the mail. im definitely going to have this service performed.
but still am curious. how should i go about selling it? craigslist? should i fix the tear in the rear seat and the burn hole before i sell? anyone know any good upholstery shops in the NYC area to recommend?
i have big plans with the money i get for this car, so top dollar is a must. i assure you all, i truly loved this car and am meticulous in caring for it. for me, this car was to be cruised in, not driven like a jerk. i rarely pushed it to the limits, and it always impressed me. also after the new tires, wheel alignment, pads/rotors and tightening of the steering rack. it now drives straight as an arrow. tram lining? not anymore, problem has been fixed so well that i almost completely forgot about it.

I'm curious about the work that you had done to the steering rack. What did they need to do to sort out the steering? I'm noticing some vague steering issues since rotating my tires and having struts and shocks installed. Had them do an alignment, but still a little concerned about the way it steers. Is there a "tightening up" that can be done with the rack?

On your car, I recommend getting the upholstery fixed, and detailing the car extensively. If the car looks well-sorted, and runs and drives a nice as you say, you will get a better price for it.

You should get a quote from a paintless dent removal guy for the dings: maybe have a touch-up pro minimize the scratches.

i would refer to this thread regarding tightening the steering rack steering-wheel-shakes-40mph-t547763-30.html

im worried repairing the upholstry would cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars...would it be worth spending that much fixing something im going to sell?

Let me ask you this. Will you buy a car for $12K with ripped leather and a burn hole? Shouldnt take more than a couple hundred bucks to get it done.

Agreed! Those kinds of flaws will be a big turn-off to a potential buyer. No one wants to buy a car when they know there will have to have the upholstery re-done, unless they are paying below wholesale for the car. If you are serious about getting the best price for your car, you have to make sure that the car presents well to a buyer. Fixing dents and repairing seats will make it more likely that the car will sell quickly and for a better price.
