I was just quoted by an infinite dealer in NJ $295 per axle to change brake pads and resurface rotors. Should I spend the money? Is there a cheaper, reputable place to have my brake pads changed?

Get Brakemotive drilled/slotted rotors with ceramics from Ebay under $180 shipped to your door (Front + Rear)
Find local shop to install or there is a DYI instructions in HOW TO & FAQS section.

Looks great. Are they better than the oem brakes?

Better and NO ONE should be resurfacing rotors anymore. Metal composition is not what it used to be. 12+ years in the business and its been 5+ since there's been a rotor worthy of turning.

Jbalk, my shop is in Metuchen if you need the brake motives installed, don't go to Catena or Circle...

Yep, most of members here are using them, myself included. Had them installed 6 months ago, no complaints.

I was just quoted $300 to install the brakemotive kit. Is this reasonable?

HELLO NO! :nono:
I got mines installed for $120 ($30 per axle)
Go into the HOW TO & FAQS and DIY. Looks pretty easy, I will attempt it to DIY on my next set.

I don't recall anyone here reporting about Hart's set up. I, too have the brakemotive kit and I got the front/rear set that comes with the extra stainless steel peices for a few dollars more. I had them installed (front and rear) at a local shop for $150. They thoroughly cleaned everything including the parking brakes and did a complete inspection agfter installing them. All-in, I have 4 new rotors (excellent quality) and 4 new pads fr the slightly more than a one-axle brake job (without new rotors). Tons of peeps on here have them but I was still a little antzy about getting them. Now, I'm right pleased and vey happy I did it.
I can also report that this changed the way my car brakes in a hugely noticeable way. Much less pressure on the pedal, and the smooth way they brake is amazing. AND ... when the pads on the front or rear wear down, you can buy the rear kit or the front kit for less than a brake job on that axle and have all new pads and rotors all over again.

Indeed! :yesnod In particular, resurfacing cross-drilled or slotted rotors is difficult - it has to be done at much slower speeds to avoid problems, including broken equipment, cracked rotors, etc. Has to cost more as a result.

Personally, I'd go with a high-quality solid rotor ... it is the amount and quality of the iron used that matters the most in good braking performance and heat dissipation. The heat generated is transferred to air or, far more often, to the hub (which is another reason to minimize/avoid spacers, by the way), So, having a good heat capacity to begin with (i.e., the denser the iron), the better it all works.

Also, I currently have the Centric black hat rotors from Tire Rack and am very pleased with them still ... you can search for my prior posts on these excellent rotors.

I just messaged brakemotive on eBay about these and he said they're not compatible with the AWD. I have 2010 m35x. What's the difference I don't understand

I have a 2007 M35x - and put on my second set of Brakemotive brakes a couple of months ago. They fit perfectly. Do a search on their eBay site and it will bring up the right set. It looks like they're on sale today at a great price $151.53 (shipped).

Keeps showing nothing for 2010. I've contacted them to double check. Does anyone think there's a difference between 2010 AWD and the others?

OK I got a reply from brakemotive and he says he's not showing a part for the x model. So I'm assuming the part fits both Rwd and AWD m35 06-10. But I don't know for sure. Can someone please tell me if there are different rotors for 06-07 rwd/awd. And 08-10 red/awd. IS THERE A DIFFERENCE? This is killing me.
