Hello everyone,

I am a new owner of a 06 M35S. When purchasing the car, the previous owner was honest in letting me know that the oil pan gasket needs to be replaced. I have searched here and via google and was unable to find a video or information on how to do the replacement. I read some posts about the M45 and how much of a PIA it is, but some said the M35 is much easier. Is it easy to access and replace without having to lift the engine?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If I recall it's just a series of bolts...like 15-20. Shouldn't be hard at all but I forgot what the underside of an M35 looks like so I may be wrong. You don't need to lift or remove the engine.

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Is there anything else I need to replace while I have the pan off? The car has 165K miles on it, so if there are other things to replace while I am there, I might as well.

Hi Drugar.
Most vehicles have what’s called an oil sump or pickup. It’s an inlet that usually has a metal screen at the end up it. The purpose of this is to keep contaminants from circulating through the moving parts of the engine as it sucks up oil into it. You should be able to inspect and clean it, if necessary.

That is a VQ35, so much easier to replace the oil pan/oil pan gasket than say..the M45. I have done it before. Its pretty easy I'd say. Just take your time and make sure the surfaces are clean so when everything goes back together it doesn't leak.
