I recently purchase a 2006 M35 with around 70k miles. The warranty offered from Infiniti is for 2 years and runs about $2600 and covers pretty much everything with roadside assistance blah blah blah. I wanted to know if you guys thought this was necessary as it seems a little excessive to me, especially for only 2 years. I plan on keeping this car for at least three years so I will eventually be riding dirty with no warranty at all, I guess the question is when should I start? The other option (which I'm leaning towards) is to run the car through the warranty up to 80k miles or so and depending on how it is running decide whether or not to keep the warranty. In that case, any advice on things to make sure are fixed before I cancel the warranty would be greatly appreciated.

You guys have got a great and informative forum here... I've been lurking but finally bit the bullet to get some individual advice.

You can get the warranty, but don't get it from your dealer.

Get it from Circle Infiniti or Scottsdale Infiniti.

Also, the more you wait to purchase the warranty...the more expensive it will get. Meaning, at 70k it's cheaper than at 80k.

It's a nice thing to have. I got my car at 32k, got warranty at 50k after dealership one expired, and had it till 89k (just expired). I am now warrantyless.

Maybe this is a dumb question but how do I get warranties from other dealerships? Does it work if I've already bought the car?

Yes. It's an Infiniti Elite warranty which is backed by EVERY Infiniti dealer in the US. You can get it anywhere. I live in NY and got mine in NJ via Daniella (who's not there anymore from what I know) at Circle Infiniti.

Interesting... and the one that Circle/Scottsdale offer are different than the one from my local dealership (which was also called the Infiniti Elite)?

No, it's the same warranty. Just better pricing. I think those places have lower prices because they market them online. Your local dealership relies on local monies to make money on that, so they assume people don't know better than to search abroad for it.
