Guys,Have a 2006 M35 Sport version with the wood trim - not a fan of it at all but car was well priced so could not walk away. Now I want to change the wood to the platinum trim (would go well with the charcoal leather!!!) but dealer wants $1,200 for parts and labor. Too much!!!

Any thoughts on how I might get this done cheaper? Parts alone are $920 or so....

ThanksP

I'd be willing to trade . Not sure how well that would work.

Since I live in San Fran, a trade with Los Angeles might work the best....I talked with the dealer here in San Fran and they would want $500 or so to take out one trim and install the other..

Have you looked into the cost side at maybe an aftermarket shop? You can call me at 415-783-6238 to discuss how we can make this work....

ThanksP

I say use the FSM and remove it yourself, It'll be cheaper and if you screw up on one or two parts they would be cheaper than your other options right now.

I'll call my friend and give him your number later today and you two can work everything out instead of using myself as the middle man.

Whats your actual name??

Yeah I know we can do it on our side, not hard at all actually if you have the FSM. But if you never worked on your car before then maybe you should hit up a shop to take it off. We have tons of experience working with our cars so it's not a problem.

Or you could just drive down for a vacation for a day, lol!

Soon as he wakes up I'll hit him up to call you.

Just bought the car so never have worked on it - bought it last week....if you guys don't mind I might take you up on the offer and drive down on a weekend which would be my way of sharing in the costs I guess,,,,would you mind helping me with installing the aluminium trim onto my car?

I don't have a problem with helping you, you guys work out the details, my friends name is TK. (He's still sleeping now)

If you have other parts you might as well let me know what they are and we can have an install day or something, just pay for the coffee or beer!

Sweet...Might work the best as that way we both get to see each others trim to make sure it is in the right condition....

Would you guys be able to install a rear spoiler too? My car does not have one and i can get one from ebay for $150 - it requires that one bolts on the spoiler which I have no idea how to do,,,not very mechanical

BTW - what does TK do? I want his job...Sleeping till midday!!!
