Sometimes when I push the start button, the engine starts to turn right away and other times there is a second or two lag before it begins to turn.

Any insight on this issue?

My 2006 M45 Sport is doing the same thing. When I first got it, it would start right away. I had to replace the batteries in the remote. And ever since, it takes a few seconds before the start process kicks in after pushing the start button. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks.

I have figured out the delayed starting with mine. Mine only started acting up after I replaced the batteries in the keyfob. That was because when the batteries were dead, I had to insert the keyfob into the slot on the dash. When I exited the vehicle I just pulled on the keyfob to get it out. I didn't know at the time that you have to push it in to get it to release. So all the time I had the new battery in the keyfob, it was still trying to read the keyfob from the dash slot. Once it realized there was no keyfob present, it read the signal from the keyfob in my pocket. That was the reason for the delayed start. I just re-inserted the keyfob into the dash slot and pushed it in further to release it. I then started the car with no delay. So check to see if the dash slot is checking for a keyfob.
