Hey car gurus,

My old machine has throw the codes P1759, P1757 & P0011 and my local mechanic tells me the transmission needs to be replaced. Should I take this the dealer for second opinion or is this actually the end?

2006 M35 - 180K

Thanks

Hi Scott,

You can use the FSM (found in the FAQ link in my signature) to check up on the codes and what they mean. This will tell you what the issues may be due to and you will be able to better tell if the mechanic is blowin smoke up your rear or on the money.

the funny thing is the local Infiniti service department tells me they were not familiar with the codes. Thanks for the links but it really sounds like the transmission is truly dead. Wanna buy an 06 M35? lol

No the codes do not suggest that. The worst is valve body replacement. To confirm there is a TSB on the issue: ITB10-006a February 11, 2010-- 5 SPEED A/T DTC DIAGNOSES FOR P1701, P1702, P1703, P1704, P1705, P1754, P1759, P1764, P1769, P1774

Nissan hardly sells valve body component units for most of their transmissions and so do not disclose part numbers. However, it seems to me that the solenoid valve in question here has the part number 31941-90X01 available in many Chinese online stores. But, perhaps more reliably, it is also produced by Rostra with the part number 52-0538.http://www.rostratransmission.com/
I think you should explore this. It just could be that you don't even need to replace the entire valve body.
With 180k on your odometer, the solenoid is probably clogged with dirt thus making shifting difficult. What symptoms do you experience?

I have an 11 M37 and what I feel on acceleration makes me believe I am in ECO mode in my newer one. Sluggish power, shifting is bumpy from 2-3 and 3-4 and the occassional clunck during shifts.
