I had the same problem on my 1999 TL. Turns out one of the fans on my radiator(The fan used for the AC) did not work any more. I replaced the fan ($30.00 junkyard) and it fixed the problem permanently.

Not sure how your V6 engine is set up, but I assume its similar. Before you go and change your fan, I would first check a fuse that may be tied to any of those fans and make sure they work. That would be the easier and cheaper fix.

I had the same problem with my car, you might be covered by recal/extended warranty for the radiator fan. Infiniti had sent me a letter that extended warranty for the fan to 100k miles or 8 years. I took my car into infiniti and they fixed the problem free.

that's definitely a fan issue.... when the car is in motion air coming thru the grill cools the radiator .... thus when your at a stand still and not moving the fan kicks in to do the cooling.... it could be a bad temperature sensor in the radiator not working right to make the fan come on...happened to an acura I had... Hope this helps
