I was coming from El Centro back to San Diego yesterday. The temperature was 107 out. As I started to climb out of the valley, the temperature gauge rose quickly. I shut off the AC but the temperature gauge still climbed to the hot mark on the gauge. It stopped on the first Hot Line. I have ran my Tacoma over these hills many times in this heat and never had to shut AC off in fear of overheating. You figure on a high end car you wouldn't have to either. I took to Infiniti dealer today and of course everything is fine. Anybody else have this problem in the hot heat of summer? If so, what was the outcome?

Welcome to NICO.

I have not seen anything like this on a relatively new car. I suggest looking at the coolant, engine oil, and transmission levels to make sure that they are okay. I am not sure about the new design now, but it is possible that the transmission fluid is also being cooled by circulating it through the radiator. If there is low fluid or a blockage there, this might explain things.

Since it probably has been a few years, it might also be worth changing the coolant out completely. As well as doing a transmission flush if you are near or over 30k miles.

Thanks for the info. I have taken it to the dealership and they checked everything and it was fine. What do you M35's run at on the temperature gauge when it is hot(100+)? What about when going up a grade? Any info would be appreciated.
