Like day to night... no indication of any issues on previous drives. Most recent was 2 days ago and then parked until this AM unused... heavy rain last night...
We're going to a do today, so my wife and I got in this afternoon and she remembers something so I give her the keys to go back to the house (with the key Fob attached). She got out and while walking in front of the car, I thought it would still be able to see the Fob signal, so I stepped on the brake and hit the button.... not a sound. All the usual lights came on, radio, fan, etc, but nothing from the dash ( relay?) or engine. Maybe not, I thought...

Sat and waited... Wife returns with keys, etc and we try again. I have the Fob in hand, step on brake and press Start button.... silence...

Comments?

thx

I'm not clear from your post whether the dash is waking up or not. If the dash lights are coming on normally then most likely you have a bad brake switch or a blown brake lamp fuse. The BCM looks at the brake lamp signal and only lets the car crank if they're lit.

I was the one who posted the original issue. It just went away the next day, so I have nothing to relate to. The other response was more constructive.... check your brake lights. What kind of mileage does your car have. Mine (2006) is at around 123K and no issues since last report. I never had any clicking noise, that would seem like a connection issue or a weak battery, but if you had that checked Ok, perhaps the cable needs some attention...

2010 170k+..car was fine.was driving and all of a sudden the steering wheel got stiff. Luckily I was close to home.parked it and now it wont start😏. Terminals are good. Last time something similar happened. Was getting ready to leave work and it wont start. Went back a couple days later , put in the new battery n it cranked right up. So I disconnected the battery and with try again tomorrow 🤞🤞

Turns out it was the serpentine belt that popped.
