Hi. I have a 2006 m35 Base Model. I am trying to find the location of the amplifier because I need to change it. On the left side in the trunk compartment, where the infiniti diagram shows it is supposed to be, is my tire jack equipment. On the right side there is nothing. Can anyone provide any help?

It won't be near the jack, it will be hanging off the bottom of the back deck (rear parcel shelf). Look up, not down.

What back deck are you talking about? How can I look up to he bottom? Also, I don’t have a rear parcel shelf.

What version of the M do you have? The back deck is the flat portion directly beneath the rear window, Nissan calls it a parcel shelf in the FSM. The Bose hangs off the bottom of it, accessed from the trunk.

Hey, I’m at the repair shop. The guy pulled down the underside of the rear window ledge and there is no amplifier. That means I have not found it anywhere in the trunk compartment. What am I missing?

Are you sure it has an amp? The base system doesn't have one, the speakers are driven directly by the head unit. The FSM shows the same location for all the variants with Bose, under the left side of the shelf. So if it's Bose and the amp isn't there, somebody has to have modified things.

I’m not sure it does have an amp. But, if it’s only the radio, I’ve replaced all the radio components. It still turns on but I have no sound. What else could be wrong?

Exactly what did you replace, and what did you replace them with? If you got a used head unit and the part number wasn't an exact match, it may be a Bose. You can't mix and match them, the M's had a "smart" Bose with LAN communication to the head unit, so you'll get zero audio output. With used head units you have to take the number off the unit and match it exactly, or have the Parts Department give you the supersession chain to match it with an earlier or later part that's equivalent.

One other thing, there will be a fuse (usually 15A and marked "Audio") in the Fuse & Relay Box under the hood. If that's blown the screen will usually still light up on ignition power, but none of the audio stuff will work.

I got after market parts. My car is a 2006. Infiniti doesn't make the radio parts anymore for my mode3l year. The parts I got were not Bose. I replaced the CD Changer Unit and the Top Air Conditioner Control Unit.

With aftermarket, your guess is as good as mine. It could just be something silly like a wrong configuration or a squelch input that isn't connected properly, so the first thing I'd do is go through the documentation for the aftermarket head unit to make sure all the signals from the car are correct.

Thanks. First thing I think I’ll do is replace the fuse. Then, I’ll go from there. Thanks for all your help!!!
