Recently my m35 has stopped recognizing it is in park when I put it in park. This causes the car to beep at mee and tell me to put it in park when I turn it off, even though it is definitely in park. My temporary fix is that I took the job off of it and now I have a white stick. When I shift into park that white stick is lower than it is in all the other gears, and if I pull the stick up myself, the car recognizes it is in park. So I assume that the problem lies somewhere in that stick not going up. Does anyone have any ideas/similar experiences? I haven't seen anyone with an issue similar to this online.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, this sounds like a new issue, been here since 2010 and never read about it. Any chance you looked at the factory service manual on this site for some troubleshooting tips?
