I need a new Muffler and exhaust for my M35x, and was told by the dealer that the best he could do was $2200 for the 2 mufflers and the y shaped pipe. I searched all over for an after market M35x muffler for the 2006. All I found was Stillen, or other "loud mufflers". Does anyone know of where I could purchase a cheaper muffler and exhaust system? I can't believe there is not an after market for this. Would really appreciate the help.
Thanks,

Hi Bob, welcome to NICO!

The dealer is about right on their cost after labor. Here is a link for the parts and their costs:

I assume this is what you're looking to replace: items 6, 8, 9.

(Item 6) 2006 M35 X Center muffler
Usually Ships in 3 to 5 Business Days
Our Price: $435.31

(Item 8) 2006 M35 X Right Rear muffler
Usually Ships in 3 to 5 Business Days
Our Price: $554.02

(Item 9) 2006 M35 X Left Rear muffler
Usually Ships in 3 to 5 Business Days
Our Price: $554.02

If you go into our marketplace, you can find the website infinipartsusa

If you order from them, mention that you're a NICO member and you can probably buy the parts and have a muffler shop install them in order to save a few bucks.

^This.

In addition, a lot of the "loud" systems are tasteful (especially the ones for Infinitis), and free up some power in your engine. It doesn't have to work as hard to push the spent gases out the tailpipe, so it has more power to actually propel the vehicle. In some cases, you'll even see an increase in fuel economy. As long as you keep the stock catalytic converters, I'll bet it won't be overbearing.

To put it bluntly, you can swap to a cone air filter and I'll bet that will be louder than a Stillen catback at WOT.
