Greeting to all,
I'm in the market and found a beautiful 2006 Infiniti FX45 with 65K on the clock!
What do you think, should I do it?

It's a fully loaded with ALL options with 60K and the asking price was 24K- I will be picking it up this weekend!
Does anyone know any failing components on this vehicle year?
Thanks!

Longlivetitus,
I can vouch for the FX45 ...it's a great car and mine has been very reliable. The price on the one you're looking at seems a bit high, though. I bought my 2004 FX45 1.5 years ago, so it was about 4.5 years old, and it had 24K miles on it. I paid $22,295 and I got it from an Infiniti dealership. Mine is also loaded except I don't have the DVD/rear entertainment feature but it's got everything else. I think the 45s come pretty much loaded. The 35s are the ones that have the different packages like Technology, Sport, etc.

As for issues, there are two things that I have experienced. The warped/bubbling dashboard (replaced for free under warranty) and just recently I noticed some bubbling on 2 or 3 of my stock wheels, as if the finish on the wheels is bubbling off. I will probably have them either refinished in the silver alloy or just chromed.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
Steve

Ladies & gents,
I've had my new 2006 FX45 for a week now and absolutely love it! I did have a question about the dashboard bubbling; where exactly does this occur?

For the record, she is loaded with all the goodies--DVD navi, Cruise guidance, rear entertainment (with game boy advance?) rear camera, voice activation, bluetooth and several other features I can't remember. Also, can't forget black exterior with brick seat interior...pretty sweet!

Thanks again, and I look forward to swapping all sorts of information with all of you. (Thanks Steve!)

The bubbling typically occurs on the top front area of the dash but can develop cracks around the vents and speaker grills too. Infiniti has a replacement warranty for the FX to have the dashboard replaced. Look into it now to see how long this warranty will be offered for. The '02-'06 Q45 experiences the same issues but isn't included in this warranty---most likely because sales numbers were so much lower than the FX. A new dash will cost at least $1,500 not including install. lol
