First, I apologize if I'm touching on something already addressed in another thread...

I went to get into my G35 this evening and I cannot get the ignition to turn to "on" from the "lock" position....it won't budge..

I replaced the battery in my Intelli key fob but that had no affect....the mechanical key will not work either....its just stuck....

Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a button on the steering column that I am not seeing that would "unlock" the ignition?

Thanks!

I gently moved the steering wheel from left to right while turning the ignition and it came loose for me...problem solved!

A question, were you able to start the car or did you not get that far?

I was having starting issues with my keyless ignition and the last set of codes generated had to do with the steering lock. While the IPDM was replaced the next day the issue resurfaced and I made sure all the connections to the steering lock module were tight.

They seemed to be but in any case after doing this it has worked properly since. That is except for one single start where I did not press the brake before hitting the button. One would think that all you would have to do is take it back to the off position and start over but that didn't work either. In fact the only thing that seemed to work was to open the door, move the key out of the inside and then restart the process.

My guess was going to be "Are you sure you didn't break into someone else's car?"

Actually did this once. Normally I would park my mother's 67 Toyota in a certain spot. When I came out one day I went to the car, unlocked it, but it would not allow me to start the car. That is when I noticed that it had a different gearshift knob. The car was the same year, color, etc. and parked where I normally parked. I can tell you it is a very funny feeling and you try your best to sneak out of the car before the owner sees you.

On many of the older cars there was a very limited number of key combinations and in this case my key would open the door but not work the ignition. I think some of the early chebys has as few as 7.

Now days you can have the correct key, be in the correct car, and the stupid thing will still say you are not who you know you are.

I had a Mitsu 3000GT VR4 that wouldn't start unless you pushed the clutch pedal to the floor...hard! It also had a steering wheel lock that was tough to unlock...

ran into that problem today. I did not put it in park fully. It looked like it was seated in park but i had to force it forward a little more then it allowed me to remove the key.
