I've had my g35 sedan for almost a year now so I want to start tuning it up and making it my own. I have a general knowledge about cars and tuning them up but no actual experience, so I'm asking for advice and opinions on how to start making my car better and faster the RIGHT ways from the bottom up.

Thanks guys
- Trevor

There's something special about putting your own personal stamp on a car and making it stand apart from the masses.

I don't know if you were being figurative or literal when you said "From the bottom up" but for me this is the literal way I go about things...tires, brakes & suspension. You can have all the big power in the world but if you can't use it it doesn't do you any good. A friend of mine in Chicago used to say, "There's no such thing as too much power, but there is such a thing as too little traction."

Is it completely stock as it is right now? Do you have to deal with winter weather (or maybe just cold weather)? You might consider a second set of wheel with summer only tires that you can run in the warmer months. I think a lot of people are surprised about how much difference a quality summer tire can make in the way your car rides, handles and performs.

Funny you mention it cause I'm actually starting with new tires today.

It's entirely stock at the moment and I live in central Texas, so weather can vary from 30-105 throughout the year. I don't have to worry about snow or ice.

What are your goals? If you want something that will have 500hp-ish then you should immediately look into TT/SC options instead of going the whole bolt-on route and wasting time and money. Otherwise I would consider the basics first (intake, exhaust) along with brakes/sways/springs for greater handling and traction. Next would come HFC's, headers (I didn't bother that route), manifold, and a full tune.

I'm not really looking for something as powerful as that, I don't plan on buying into more than 400 horsepower at best. Not trying to turn it into a GTR lol.

You will never get up to 400hp on bolt-on's. I've seen others with '06's running intakes, spacers, test pipes, exhaust, and UpRev tune only get 276whp which is around 340 hp at the crank assuming 18%+ driveline loss. Total investment for that is probably around $3-4k +/- with tuning and such. Adding headers, cams, higher rear gearing would be the next steps but at that point you are probably higher than the base cost of a Vortech SC and, maybe, only hitting 300whp while the Vortech system that is low $6k new would be 440-ish crank hp. People sell used ones all the time which would be much cheaper.

I didn't really mean I don't want a SC or TT I just meant I wasn't going for 500+ horsepower. Thanks for sharing the knowledge, I wish I had that kind of experience haha.
So since a supercharger is the route I want to go. What do I want and
NEED take care of first?
I know a decent amount about cars but I don't have the hands on experience to know what's best for myself. I really appreciate all the advice

If you G35 has high miles and no maintenance history I would probably steer clear. I'd suggest doing some research for the G35 to see what others have done. Here's a SC install for a G37: http://www.infinitig37.com/G37-converti ... stall.html

The big difference between that and a G35 is the G35 only has a single TB.
