Just had my oil changed, and as soon as I left I noticed that my "Service Engine Soon" light was on, along with a light that says"slip" underneath the transmission gear indicator light, and a light that said " VDC OFF" was on as well. Never had any of these light come on before. I drove the 2 blocks to work, and it ran fine. Figured it would go off soon, so didn't take it back to the place I had the oil changed.4 hours later, I leave to go home. Lights are still on, oil change place is closed, but runs fine till I get up to 60mph then it starts cutting out, like it's not getting gas or something. Runs fine below 60mph, but over 60 it gets rough.

All they did was change oil, air tires and change my air filter....what could they have done to make this happen?? Any help would be greatly appreciated....22000 miles and never a problem till now....

Let's hope they did not srew it up. If they did,It could be the wrong oil filter or worse not enogh oil.

Checked the oil level and it was fine.....and not leaking anywhere either...would the wrong oil filter cause all this??

Since basic generic OBD2 scanner cost ~~$100. Miniscule compared to the dealers $5,000 Consult diagnosis computer.

Every owner should have their own scanner that way they can immediately read the codes, look them up in their Free downloaded FSM or just google them and decide the URGENCY of a dealer visit.

Upon further inspection this morning in the daylight, I found that when they replaced the air filter they did not replace the plug that is located on the air filter housing....I plugged it back in and the "VDC OFF" and "SLIP" lights have turned off...however, the "Service Engine Soon" light remains lit....Checked the gas cap to make sure it is tight, and the air filter components are where they should be and replaced correctly....I am assuming this warning indicator is Emissions related?? Have never had any warning light in 22000 miles of trouble free driving....Any Suggestions?? Thank you to those that have responded previously, and thanks in advance to everyone who responds to this post to help me out...this forum is awsome!!

You have to reset your ECU. Follow these procedures:

ECU Resetting ProceduresTiming is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.Operations Procedures1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON and wait 3 seconds.2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)5. Wait about 10 second.6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.
