The passenger side fog lamp on my 2006 FX35 is broken. The light works but the lens has broken away. I was told that the entire assembly needs to be replaced and that I can only get the part from the dealer. Is this true? If not, where I can find the OEM part number for the lamp and where can I get it? My garage wants to charge me $150 for the lamp plus labor and they are not sure how long it will take to replace. Can you provide me with info on this so at least I'm sure I'm not getting ripped off? Thanks!

Welcome to NCIO!

For the best price, try

http://www.ininfitipartsusa.com

And armor them and your headlights so they won't have to be replaced or polished in the future.

You might be able to determine if the replacement is something you want to DIY by downloading your FSM (Factory Service Manual) at http://www.phatg20.net. It appears that the lastest manual on the site is for a 2005 model. Do you know if there were any major revisions for '06?

Also, you may find a used part at http://www.car-part.com - but on a car that new, it seems like a shame to be heading to the junk yard so soon!

Thanks for the lead. The only problem is they only sell a pair - the whole assembly and it costs over $150. I've got a one-year lease on the car which ends in June and I was hoping not to have to spend alot of money to repair it. May not have a choice though! Thanks again.

By all means I would look for a good used one then

Might check eBay too.

I've been checking ebay - the problem is, I'm not sure what exactly I'm looking for!! This is the description on the auction I saw - from a company called vertex racing.

03 04 05 06 FX35 FX45 FX 35 45 OEM FOG LIGHT LAMP RH

When I asked him if it would work as a replacement, he said it was the whole fog light unit so I had to take the stock one out to put his on. I've got no problem with that - it's $50 vs. $150 - as long as it looks the same when I replace it.

Also - I contacted another ebayer who was selling 03-05 replacements and he said it wouldn't work for 06, so I'm a little concerned how this part could cover 03-06. Ugh!!

Might be worth a call to Joe at http://www.infinitipartsusa.com to see his price, as well as what years are cross compatible. The web site shows the part, but the price is not listed for some reason...
