The boxy looking parts are apparently part of the camouflage. It looks like Mitsu dropped the ugly cross-trangular lights and hood that were in the concept. Hopefully build quality doesnt suck this time.

It amazes me that they have to go through so much trouble to keep things as much a secret as possible. Looks cool though... I think. Hard to tell through all that crap.

Current gen Eclipse: one of the best factory exhaust notes Ive heard.

Car looks good, but its hard to tell. I like the two piece side windows (partly fixed/partly roll-down). I guess they stuff styrofoam under the black tarp so you cant tell the sahpe of the body

Meh never really cared much for the eclipses and it appears this one isn't about to change my mind.

Twice the ugly of the current crapboxes, and none of the AWD turbo goodness of the first two gens (yet). Sounds like a winner.

Not nearly as nice as the new VQ35's in my opinion.

I don't care for Mitsu's that much but the 1st gen Eclipses (and the Starion) were the only cool cars that Mitsu ever made--as far as USDM Mitsu's go. Anything after that is a ***** car and the 2006 looks no different. What a shame... the Eclipse used to be a small, quick car; now it's behemoth like the now-extinct 3000GT. Oh well.

Mitusbishi has a really cool SUV they use for off road racing...I can't remember the name of it but I think it's a version of the Montero....not sure if they still make anything like it though...

I gotta agree about the first gen Eclipse and the Starion though. Those were cool...

haha, oh yeah, can't forger about the Evo...even though I don't really like the way the VIII looks...

going on the taped pics of it, it kinda looks like a new Tiburon...

Hmm, for some reason the Evo 8 slipped my mind. It's hot in terms of performance, but it doesn't stand out to me (edit:because i'm a die-hard Scooby fan when it comes to WRC ), and i heard the fit & finish is poor. I like the old Evo's, the 6 and 5 being my fav's.

Not sure about the fit and finish, as I've only seen an Evo from the outside (wouldn't let me test drive at the dealership...wonder why?)

Still, they go like hell and have unbelievable handling. Every comparison I've ever read has given the edge to the Evo over the STI as far as performance goes.

Still, I like the looks of the Subie better (and I'm a Subie WRC fan too). Go Petter!!!

I don't care what they say about the Evo's performance, Subies have been a car i lusted after since highschool. Anyhow, I recall in the recent Top Gear mag there was an article about the Evo 8 MR edition that makes 345hp and they questioned how long it would last (reliability-wise) since some of the normal Evo8's they tested had some issues.

All in all, i like the Evo but the pre-7 evolutions were the hottest to me.

And the Eclipse is still whack.

Im not really a fan of all the "futuristic" cars now a days (with the exception of the g35 and 350z). I agree with whoever said that Ive never been too fascinated with mitsu, and this isnt about to change me mind. Either they're doing a helluva job hiding it, or it's ***-ugly.

A brilliant successor to the title of "Ugliest Car in America".

Looks like they're now copying the Tiburon (from the rear)... The Eclipse is just nasty looking. Bleh.

Evos do have problems, but they're mostly strange-yet-sorta trivial problems.

-They can begin to rust in places almost immediately-The clutch WILL be shot after 5k miles or so if you don't drive it like a wuss

I've actually heard the interior holds together pretty well, doesn't rattle loose as much over time as the Subies do. I am a huge Subie fan, I owned a 2k4 WRX that I had factory-ordered and it was my baby, but honestly, if I had the money, I'd go Evo MR instead of STi. I have no interest in the normal VIII due to the lack of AYC, but it'll be in the MR.

Oh, and previous MR reviews/previews GREATLY inflated it's performance. It will have about 280hp, not 345. Magazine previews of the car had said 0-60 in 4.3 and 12.9 sec 1/4. Car & Driver got to drive a real one recently and it's more like 0-60 in 4.7 and 13.3 1/4.

That eclipse looks like a recipe of sebring coupe and tiburon.

By the way I love the exhaust sound of the 350Z. Also the neon srt-4 has a nice sound also
