Sorry if this has been covered, I looked high and low and couldn't find an answer. I don't always have sound. The stereo is on and a cd is playing(though I can change to the radio and it doesn't work either) I can change the volume level at the HU or steering wheel controls, turn it off and on, but I have no sound?! I can shut the car off and restart it and sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't come back for several starts. I have also been having a problem with the car not starting, but the stereo is more frequent. Please help.

First issue, sounds like a faulty connection on the head deck. I'd open it up and re-terminate all the plugs. Does it matter if it's radio or CD?

Second issue...is the car a 6MT? The clutch switch is a common culprit.

It is a 6MT. It doesn't matter the source. Radio or CD I have complete control over stations and tracks and volume(from the head unit or the steering wheel) I just don't have sound?!

I'd first try and reconnect all connectors on the back of the head deck. It could also be a faulty Bose amp.
