My 2006 Altima will be a year old on Memorial Day and for the last 5-6 months there is an irritating chirping noise in the front end when I start the car, brake and take off. I have taken it to my dealer and they state that it is probably the electric motor mounts and that it is normal.?????? I asked if I drove a car just like mine, it would do the same thing and they said not necessarily??? Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what was the resolution. My dealer told me that they could disconnect the motor mounts if the noise was to irritating???? Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

With what you are describingv as hearing a rythmic chirping noise, we see this pretty often. The Altimas we see with this symptom actually have a bad belt tensioner. You can check for this easily. As soon as you start the car, spray/drop water on the drive belt. If the sound amplifies or gets worse, then you need a new belt and tensioner assembly. And if you spray some silicone on the belt and the problem goes away, then the belt and tensioner are bad.....
