I first want to say I am sorry. I am sure this has been posted multiple times before but I am new to the site and I dont see where to do a search. So here is the issue:

I am having issues with a 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 that is completely stock. I am getting a P0340 error code. What happens is it will start rough when it is cold and the idle will fluctuate and when you drive it will sputter and loose power and at times die... However once it is warmed up it runs fine...ish, but mostly fine. I have already replaced the cam shaft and crank shaft sensors, I have replaced the fuel pump, I have replaced the air filter, I have replaced the spark plugs and made sure they were properly gapped. I am sure I have done something else but I cant think of it. What am I missing?

Have you looked up what P0340 is?
There is a link to the factory service manual in my signature that should have that answer in it.

BTW, the search button is just above your "user control panel" and PM area on the right side of the screen.

Yeah... When I pull it up using Torque it says it is the Cam Shaft Sensor Position. And when I check the ODB sites I get this exact information:

Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
the camshaft position sensor may have failed
the PCM may have failed
there exists an open circuit
the crankshaft position sensor may have failed

That is where I started my Rabbit trail. While doing research on one I would find a million forums on something else that would recreate the issue after I replaced the last part and it didnt take. In order I did as follows as far as the replacing.... So Far :-/

1. Air Filter
2. Spark Plugs
3. Cam Shaft Sensor
4. Crankshaft Sensor
5. Was going to do a fuel filter then someone said it was in the fuel pump and not serviceable... THEN I went got a new Fuel Pump (Got it from Schucks cause they said they would price match anyone... and they price matched a Boche that napa was selling for 310 and they gave me a Airtech for that price :-O !!!) So after I got it home and opened it up I found out the fuel filter was on the bottom of it... But I couldnt be too mad due to the steal I just got.

Anyways that is what I have replaced so far and in the order. So I have been trying to slowly chase this down with no luck.

So long story short I have looked it up and that is where that list up top started from.

BTW... Thanks for the heads up on the buttons... Im gonna use them right now :-)

I'd check the harness connections for any corrosion or cracks/moisture as well.
There MIGHT have been a recall for this (I seem to ...recall something about it. Ugh... puns). You might want to try a google search for that too.

I have those issues on my wife's car and it still will pull that hard start issue, cold or hot. The cam shaft sensor has been replaced, the fuel pump TSB has been performed. I gave up trying to figure out the problem.

Yeah... I saw the remake they did for that part 2 times and about the fuel pump issues. All the connects are clean with no cracks. I heard about that too and made sure that wasnt the case.

double check the sensor cause i have the same problem with my '06 and it turned out the be the fuel pump. a TSB came out about if you had to crank you engine longer than 3 seconds its the fuel pump. what i do i turn the key to run and let the pump run, usually that helps. but you could just replace the pump

Yeah... Since this post that has been replaced too. BUT thanks for the idea anyway. That will probably help someone else :-) I seen online that helped a lot of people and Would have been a good first step before replacing the pump. And for anyone looking for where it is it is under the kick panel where your feet go on the left side. There will be a removable bracket that has two relays on it. The fuel pump relay is the one closest to the firewall. :-) I hope it works for you guys :-)
