2005 sedan 6 speed REV light stays on in dash...

I just bought a 05 sedan sports package. My REV light stays on. This is not the red light that tells me when to shift but the actual REV yellow light. Is this supposed to be on permenately?

Yes

You can adjust the rev threshold by toggling thru trip A, Trip B & then RevI have mine set at 4500 rpm so as my tach approaches 4500 rpm it first flickers & then turns red

Totally normal... I think I have mine set for about 6000RPM's

What is this REV light for?

It is just a sporty way of infiniti telling you when to shift. You can set it at whatever RPM you want to shift at. It is basically just like the shift lights you purchase in the stores just not as big or bright.
